The protection of personal data has the highest priority for the Vienna University of Economics and Business (“WU” for short). Your personal data will be processed confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations. What personal data do we process and for what purposes?
1. Server log files
We process the technically necessary data that is automatically transmitted when you visit the website. This data is logged in server log files. These are the following categories of personal data:

The log files are stored for 190 days. We process this data to ensure proper operation and to monitor the performance of the website.
2.Cookies
We use cookies on our website. These are small files that are stored on your end device (web browser). The next time you access the website with the same end device, the information stored in cookies will be sent back to us. Some cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them. They enable us to recognize your browser the next time you visit the website. Other cookies, on the other hand, are only saved on the day of your visit. We process three categories of cookies that are collected for different purposes:

3. Social Media Buttons
Unlike other social media buttons, simply calling up the website does not pass on any data to social network operators. Operators of social networks only receive data from you if you actively click on the respective social media buttons and you agree to the cookies set by the social media operators.
On what legal basis do we process the data?
Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. a GDPR - Consent
Processing of personal data in connection with the setting of web statistics and social media cookies only takes place on the basis of your consent. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. The revocation of the consent does not affect the legality of the processing of your data based on your consent until the revocation.

The setting of technically absolutely necessary cookies and the associated processing of personal data is carried out to protect our legitimate interest in offering a technically flawless presentation and use of our website.
Is there automated decision-making (profiling)?
No, automated decision-making or profiling does not take place.
Are you obliged to provide the data?
The granting of your consent for the setting of web statistics cookies and social media cookies is voluntary. There is no obligation to provide the personal data associated with the consent. Technically essential cookies are set automatically when the website is accessed. Without the associated collection of personal data, we cannot enable you to use and display the website correctly. If you generally want to prevent the storage of cookies, you can also set this in your Internet browser. Cookies that have been set can also be deleted again. You can usually find more information about how to manage your browser settings via the help function of your browser.
Who do we share the data with?
In principle, we do not pass on your data to third parties. In some cases, however, it may be that we pass on your data to external service providers we use (currently to All-Inkl.) for the purpose of maintaining the website and the website design. If you have given us your consent, we will transmit personal data collected within the framework of social media cookies to YouTube, LLC (short: YouTube) in the USA in accordance with Article 49 Paragraph 1 lit a GDPR. We would like to point out that the European Court of Justice of the USA has not certified an adequate level of data protection. In particular, there is a risk that US authorities will process data for control and monitoring purposes without any effective legal remedies being available. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. The easiest way to do this is to use the appropriate controls in the individual settings for cookie consent.
What rights do you have as a data subject?
As the person affected by this data processing, you have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data transferability and objection to WU as the person responsible. In addition, as the data subject, you have the right to lodge any complaints with the Austrian data protection authority.
